Five Reasons Why You Should Try Pilates

Lately, I’ve ditched the high-intensity workouts and said ‘hello’ to Pilates. I used to think that if I didn’t break a sweat then it didn’t count as a workout. But I was so wrong, I don’t mind admitting when I’m wrong, and I was wrong!

I’ve switched my workout to Pilates 3 times per week for the last month or so and omg! I love it! Not only do you FEEL it but it’s also super relaxing too. You don’t end up a sweaty mess gasping for air because you are constantly focusing on deep breathing which is so good for the body and mind. HIIT workouts put a lot of stress on the body, so this is lovely and calming whilst still working your body.

So, why should you switch to Pilates? Here are 5 reasons:


You work your whole body with an emphasis on core work which helps with balance and stability as well as improving posture.

Anyone can do it! There’s a wide range of YouTube videos for all abilities.

Improves flexibility by lengthening the muscles.

Improves mental wellness. The emphasis on breathing can cause a reduction in stress and increased blood flow improving your mood by releasing endorphins.

Improves sleep. I like to exercise in the evening and Pilates helps me wind down rather than giving me a boost of energy like a high-intensity workout would give me. My sleep has never been better.


If you are looking for a workout that is less intense but is still going to make you feel like you have worked, then this is the one for you. I’ve been converted and I’m not mad about it. I combine this with a 30-minute walk every day and I feel great.
