The August Advantage

By Tricia Scott.
Ah, August. Are you feeling the frustration?
Half your clients are “just back next week,” your email responses take dayyysss, and your Instagram feed is filled to the brim with other people’s children, sandy beach towels, and at least one inflatable flamingo (No shade, I love an inflatable flamingo 🦩)
It’s the month of stop / start energy. And yet… It’s also one of the best-kept secrets in business.
While the world slips into flip-flops and slows down, you can use this in-between season to get quietly, brilliantly ahead.
Think of it as your pre-September stretch - no pressure, no rush, just intentional little moves that will have Future You raising a Pumpkin Spice Latte come autumn.
Here’s what you can do in August:
- Clear the clutter - digital or otherwise. Nothing says “fresh start” like a clean desktop and inbox.
- Map out your next 90 days so September isn’t a blind sprint.
- Nurture your network - drop a “thinking of you” DM, comment with intention, reconnect without the sell.
- Feed your brain. Read the book, take the course, follow the curiosity you’ve been ignoring.
It’s not about overhauling your business in a month (can you imagine?!). It’s about setting yourself up so the final quarter of the year starts on your terms.
So, while the sun’s out and the pace is slower, take a breath, try not to take it out on your laptop, plot your next move, and let August work for you.
September won’t know what hit it.
I believe in you (always).
