How Are You, Really?

By Tricia Scott.

How are you really?

Not the version you tell the barista as they hand you your much-needed morning coffee before you head back out into the morning rush hour.

Not the one you post on Instagram.

Not even the 'I'm fine' you've mastered so well (and you've half-convinced yourself it's true).

This question came up as a reply to my email when I asked what you wanted in our new community recently and it landed hard (thank you, Tori)

It was one of those questions. The ones that catch you off guard because they're so rarely asked with the intention of truly hearing the answer.

And it made me think.

When did we stop permitting ourselves to be honest? Or did we? Perhaps we're just wearing our 'busy' badges of honour and, on autopilot, treat "fine" like a full stop?

We rush. We juggle. We give and give and give. But inside? Sometimes it's messy. Beautiful, brilliant, complex, human, but yeah, messy.

The more I work for myself and take the time to become an observer, the deeper I realise that we're just not built to do this life or this business journey alone. We need places where we can show up unfiltered. We need people who look us in the eye and wait for the answer. Not to fix us. Not to judge. Just to be there.

That's the space we're creating behind the scenes at The Female CEO.

A space where it's not just about strategy and scale (though you know I love a Trello board or ten), but about belongingand becoming. The kind of support that doesn't flinch when the answer to "how are you?" isn't wrapped in a bow.

So I'm here today not with a tip or a task but a quiet invitation:

Pause. Breathe. Check in.

And if no one's asked you yet, let me be the first.

So. How are you really?

I'm listening, and I believe in you (always).
