Are We Nearly There Yet? Let's Talk About Why That Might Be the Wrong Question

Have you ever scrolled through Instagram or LinkedIn and thought…" Wait, how did they do that?"

Like, one minute you're minding your business, the next BAM! they're popping champagne in front of a six-figure launch, glowing in their White Company pj's in their brand new kitchen, launching a product line, or being featured in Forbes.

And you're over here just trying to get your invoicing software to stop calling you "Trial User."

Stop. Drop and Breathe.

Feeling better? Good. Repeat after me: Instant success is a myth.

No one just arrives.

No one skips the messy middle.

No one builds an empire without first going through the construction.

We know this. But it doesn't stop our brains from spiralling straight into comparison mode.

This part ↑ This is where things start to get dangerous. Not because you're not enough, but because comparison, that massive fun sponge, sucks all the fun from where you actually are right now.

I speak to founders every day (did you know that's my actual job?), and behind every "overnight success" is a story of years or decades in the making because success is rarely a big reveal. It's an ongoing process of tiny steps.

Like Ash Ambirge (iconic Middle Finger Project goddess) once said: "Surely, when they built the Empire State Building, no one was embarrassed that it WASN'T JUST A BUILDING, ALREADY." Instead, they documented the process. They celebrated it. Because they knew they were building something iconic.

Do you see where we're going with this?

So, let me ask you, are you embarrassed or frustrated your business isn't "there" yet? Or can you start getting super hyped that you're even brave enough to start building?

You are not behind. You are not late. You're in the process.

So, the next time you're mid-scroll, and they pop up again, glowing like a lifestyle ad for Ideal Home and Garden, how about giving them a hand 👏🏼 and reminding yourself that you're building your version of success, and no one gets to tell you how fast it should happen, how pretty the kitchen needs to look, or what kind of pyjamas you're supposed to wear when you're doing it.

Because real empires?

They're built one messy, magnificent, brave little step at a time.

And yours?

It's already underway.
