SIGE NAGELS - VISUAL ARTIST & CHANGE-MAKER

Engineer-architect, mother, co-founder of a charitable organisation, marathon runner, stunning visual artist and changemaker are just some ways you could describe Sige Nagels. All would be true, except when you meet Sige, none seem quite to fit because apart from all of these things, Sige is simply luminous. Her profound creativity pours out from every word and excited gesture; her spark is contagious. Hours have passed before you know it, and you're still talking, immersed in deep conversations about her passions, the universe, and endless possibilities.

As well as her incredible artwork, this multi-passionate entrepreneur has more recently been pouring her time and seemingly endless energy into helping others achieve their goals and aspirations. Utilising the tools available to her throughout her own reinvention, she knew that she could help others do the same, and it's of no surprise to me that she had become a truly incredible and sought after personal development coach. I am naturally thrilled to be able to bring her to you in this Spotlight Interview. Over to you Sige...

SO, SIGE, WHAT'S YOUR STORY?

Switching careers, countries, identities, purposes, and life situations, I came to reinvent myself repeatedly. Through this process, I grew into the person I am now, and I continue to grow into the person I always have been. I find myself even more in this process, operating from my intuition.

I discovered that living life full-on makes you become who you always have been. Going all-in is coming from a state of allowing yourself to grow, overcome, heal, forgive, trust, and become. I create bold and strong coloured visual art from there.

My love for technology and engineering made me create an art installation showing how we can build green solutions in existing infrastructures into the fabric of cities worldwide. I love practical thinking AND doing the illogical. I understand my message serves a broader audience through the voice of art and choice than any given career so far.

FROM ENGINEERING ARCHITECT TO VISUAL ARTIST AND NOW A TRANSFORMATIONAL LEADER, THAT'S QUITE A JOURNEY. WHAT HAVE YOU LEARNED?

I have learned so much! Here are a few of my favourites;

  • All areas and different personas throughout our life merge over time.
  • What often might look like a failure is only a lesson learned and a skill you will pick up on later.
  • Life is integrating abilities, and life is qualities and commitments merging.
  • Your journey makes you even more unique than you already were when you were born.
  • You might have plans, but life has its own plans to take you on a fabulous unknown journey that you may never have thought of when you started.

YOU HELP MANY PEOPLE, PARTICULARLY ENTREPRENEURS. WHY  DO YOU THINK YOU ATTRACT PEOPLE TAKING THAT PARTICULAR LIFE PATH?

At some point, you become saturated with the understanding that you can only be yourself. I attract those people because I am exactly that.

I am solution-focused. Committed people who are persistent in sticking to their goals become who they are truly meant to be and aim to step outside their comfort zone. This is a quality you find in entrepreneurs; they do their own thing because they know that authenticity and true-to-self are the only way.

HOW DO YOU HANDLE CRITICISM?

I see it as a projection of a limiting belief of the person talking to me. When it leaves me uncomfortable, I don't allow my mind to take me out of the game. I affirm my core values, focusing on what actions I can take to achieve that goal. I reconnect to the purpose. We become what we focus upon, so we become the problem if we focus on the problem. I you focus on the solution and what you want, you become the solution.

WHAT INSPIRES YOU IN YOUR WORK?

Freedom of time, wealth, health and purpose are at the core of my inspiration. My clients are courageous believers who allow crazy ideas, and I take them beyond themselves to overcome limiting beliefs and patterns and take radical responsibility to show up for themselves.

I believe that everyone should know how the mind functions and my work opens up the mind on many levels; I facilitate self-regulation of the conscious and unconscious minds to steer towards the achievement of all goals with an open heart, and that is true freedom to me. I believe in my heart that we possess the know-how to build green solutions worldwide in inner cities. We just need to reach into ourselves to see it; bringing these ideas to life inspires me every day and allows me to shine my light and share my calling.

AUTHENTICITY AND FREEDOM OF EXPRESSION ARE A BIG PART OF YOUR WORK. HOW DO YOU ENCOURAGE OTHERS TO SHOW UP, EVEN WHEN THEY MIGHT BE AFRAID TO BE THEMSELVES FOR FEAR OF JUDGEMENT?

You can only be an example, and words do not teach. We will experience challenges, but we have to feel the fear and do it anyway. I believe it is better to take care of the challenges that allow us to grow in the direction of our goals than to enable us to lose a valuable lifetime. Outside the comfort zone lies confidence, a more resilient version of you and, ultimately, freedom.

WHAT MAKES YOU LAUGH THE MOST?

Funny situations. Comedians. Storytellers who can guide you to funny and witty plots.

WHAT HAVE YOU FOUND DIFFICULT ON YOUR JOURNEY, AND WHAT WOULD YOU AVOID IF YOU COULD DO IT ALL AGAIN?

Not focussing on the circumstances and learning to be patient when I step. There's a lot to learn in trusting my intuition from the start.Taking more action and trusting the universe.

WHAT’S YOUR TOP TIP FOR ENTREPRENEURS READING THIS ARTICLE?

Work on your limiting beliefs and take the action you've been avoiding and makes you afraid; in there lies your growth. There will be challenges either way you go. Therefore you are wise to focus on the action that provides a challenge and makes you grow and reach your goals!! If you think you can't, you are absolutely right. If you think you can, you are absolutely right too.
