Understanding your personal value

Do you ever feel like you're settling for less than you deserve? Perhaps you keep getting the raw end of the deal and cant seem to figure out why?

Many of us don't realise that by our own actions and beliefs we are setting ourselves up for a life of less but that doesn't have to be the way. Often the biggest road block to everything we ever wanted isn't time, money or energy, its understanding our own unique power. Master that and your life can transform overnight.

You really do have the ultimate power within you to be, do and have everything you ever wanted.

Welcome to personal value and self-worth month.

do you know what your value is?

When it comes to our own personal value we can be our own best friend or our own worst enemy, but which are you? Do you actually know what your value is?

I am a strong believer that value is a personal responsibility, it comes from within. It’s at the very core of who you are as a person and something that isn’t determined by anyone else’s opinion or treatment of you (although it can feel that way). Knowing your value, or worth is an inner confidence that cannot be touched by anyone else. Period.

still i rise - by mary angelou

By far one of my favourite and most beautiful pieces to read - Enjoy.

You may write me down in history With your bitter, twisted lies, You may trod me in the very dirt But still, like dust, I’ll rise.

Does my sassiness upset you? Why are you beset with gloom? ‘Cause I walk like I’ve got oil wells Pumping in my living room.

Just like moons and like suns, With the certainty of tides, Just like hopes springing high, Still I’ll rise.

Did you want to see me broken? Bowed head and lowered eyes? Shoulders falling down like teardrops, Weakened by my soulful cries?

Does my haughtiness offend you? Don’t you take it awful hard ‘Cause I laugh like I’ve got gold mines Diggin’ in my own backyard.

You may shoot me with your words, You may cut me with your eyes, You may kill me with your hatefulness, But still, like air, I’ll rise.

Does my sexiness upset you? Does it come as a surprise That I dance like I’ve got diamonds At the meeting of my thighs?

Out of the huts of history’s shame I rise Up from a past that’s rooted in pain I rise I’m a black ocean, leaping and wide, Welling and swelling I bear in the tide. Leaving behind nights of terror and fear I rise Into a daybreak that’s wondrously clear I rise Bringing the gifts that my ancestors gave, I am the dream and the hope of the slave.

I rise I rise I rise.

tall poppy syndrome

Ever had a massive achievement only to be cut down to size afterwards? Turns out that being brought back down to earth with a bump (or a massive ear splitting crash) when we’ve achieved success, however well-meaning is one of the biggest obstacles to growth there is. It’s called The Tall Poppy Syndrome...

Monique Calderon's amazing and inspiring TEDx  talk is about finding your worth and values. Since she was a little girl, Monique struggled with knowing her value. She grew up in a home that treated females as second-class citizens. Her fireball personality rebelled against this perspective and she was punished for speaking up for her mother, sister and herself. Her desperate cries for love and affection fell on deaf ears. She had no one to turn to, this caused her to isolate and suppress her pain.

Her story is more than inspirational, its a tale of overcoming the odds and the journey back to finding herself again.

business and personal vaue - the dreaded discount

One of topics I hear about from our readers time and time again is charging for their work.
Dreaded discounting  *cringe*  How do you feel about it? Are you happy to price match, does it make you feel uncomfortable when someone ask you to reduce your prices so much so that you feel you can't say no or do you instantly feel affronted and say no way?  Everyone is different and so too is every marketplace. There may be situations where lowering your price is entirely appropriate, that decision has to be yours however, a word of warning...

What are your best bits?

How often do you remind yourself of all the great thing you do and the person you are?

To build a solid foundation for business we must first look to ourselves and the messages we are sending out. Confidence, value, and self-worth all come from within. When you work, they work.

Knowing your value isn't self-centred or selfish. it's necessary. To build your business and uplevel your life to places you can only imagine, you have to create a solid unshakeable belief in yourself and it starts right here. Every single day is a chance to re-affirm that we ARE enough. We ALREADY have what we need and we CAN do it.

We are raising the game on Self-love, self-worth and inner confidence to whole new levels. Are you on board?

Here, you'll find a worksheet to help along the way. Circle all of the great things about you, what do you KNOW to be true for you? Once complete, put it somewhere you will see it every morning and re-read it daily. You can circle more as you go or add some on. The rules are really down to you.

Another great tool is to pass it along to a friend or partner and get them to circle the ones they see about you in a different colour and then see where you may be overlooking your own strengths.

Feel free to pop a picture of your completed version in the Facebook group too! Get used to telling people about the greatness within you because if you don't believe it, how are potential clients, employers, friends, family and partners going to?
