GOING PLANT BASED, MY STORY

By Marina Yanay-Triner - Soul in the Raw

I went plant based 7 years ago, inspired by my mom’s transformational healing story from a terrible bladder disease called Interstitial Cystitis. From not being able to leave the house for 8 years and literally falling asleep on the toilet, she healed completely through plant based eating, and is still thriving!

This transformation made me want to take a peek into plant based nutrition. Little did I know, it would become my life’s passion, my career, and one of the biggest sources of joy in my life.

When I went plant based, I gained massive energy. I lost a bit of extra weight without trying. And I got rid of incredibly painful PMS cramps that I had been dealing with my entire life. (Do you ever try to work during PMS? It’s practically impossible!)

But more importantly, plant based eating allowed me to cultivate a flourishing mindset. It allowed me to start prioritising the important things in my life, like my health, my well-being, and my happiness. From a depressed girl who experienced life as a victim and dealt with frequent episodes of PTSD, I began to see life in a new light.

I discovered a deep connection between being empowered in my life, and eating a delicious, healthy plant based diet. I stopped feeling like life was happening to me, and started to see myself as a powerful creator of my life.

Plant based nutrition was the catalyst for shedding so many negative parts of me: the extra weight, negative thoughts, and self-harming emotions that had plagued me. Instead, I focused on eating food that nourished me from the inside out. With every bite, I gave myself love, and the ability to create miracles in my life. I gave myself the gift of being mentally, emotionally, and physically so much stronger than I could ever imagine.

I believe that eating a whole food, plant based diet is the best tool and foundation for our CEO success because it gives us impeccable emotional and physical strength and energy.

If you’ve never tried eating plant based and have always been curious about it, here are my 5 simple tips for going plant based for the powerful Female CEO:

  1. Set an aligned intention for why you want to live this lifestyle.

Take out a piece of paper, and write down the first answer that comes to mind for: “why do I want to eat a plant based diet?” Once you write it down, continue asking yourself why? At least 3 more times.

    For example:

“I want to eat plant based because I want to have more energy”.

“I want to have more energy because I want to accomplish big goals in my business.”

“I want to accomplish big goals in my business because I want to make money to support my family.”

“I want to support my family because they are the greatest source of joy in my life”.

Do you see how this works? Once you have your last answer, connect the first question to it, like this: “I want to eat a plant based diet to support my family, because they are my greatest source of joy”. Write down your statement on a piece of paper, print it out, as well as an image or object that will remind you of it. Place these by your bed, and read it daily, while feeling deeply connected to the emotion it brings up. (PS – yes, you can use this technique for accomplishing pretty much any big change in your life!)

  2. Always have a snack with you.

Sometimes, it’s hard to find plant-based options when on the go. I always encourage my clients to carry snacks with them: a handful of nuts, dates, and fruit. It’s easy to pack and gives you the perfect boost of energy.

  3. Find a simple meal plan to follow, and give it a try for a week straight.

Yes, I fully believe in ‘going all in’. Because when you do, you’ll see how truly easy it is, how fulfilling, and how great you feel when you try it! I have several delicious meal plans available on my blog.

  4. Change your mindset.

Many people believe that going plant based is “so hard”. That they could never succeed at it. That they always fail at “diets”. Well, plant based eating is a lifestyle, not a diet. And when you actually give it a try – you will find how easy it is to keep up! As a Female CEO myself, I can tell you that it does not require any extra time to live my life this way. Take a moment right now to think about all of the challenges you have overcome in your business.

You can truly do anything, including changing your diet!

  5. Get support and find community.

It can be really hard to do this alone, especially if you feel like you’re the only plant based person on the planet. Get a coach, find a community (online or on meetup), and start to interact with other people who want to make this change. It will make this transformation so much more joyful.
